My name’s Uday!
Hi, I’m Uday, your dedicated maths methods tutor at VCE Vanguard. In 2022, I graduated as the state Dux of Maths Methods, scoring a perfect raw 50 and receiving the Premier’s Award, without losing a single mark on SACs or exams. But my journey wasn’t always smooth sailing. I started as a B+ student in maths.
Through thousands of practice questions, mastering CAS, and honing my study techniques, I was able to transform my performance, and now I want to help you do the same.
And so, allow us to introduce ourselves

The Vanguard Method
Our Vanguard method is your fast track to VCE success. Want to know how we do it?
Step 1
Concept Layer
Break down the topic into clear, visual steps so you understand not just how it works, but why.
Step 2
Nuance Layer
Learn examiner keywords, tricky question variations, and the “hidden” requirements VCAA markers look for.
Step 3
Observe Layer
Watch live walkthroughs of questions, seeing exactly how high scorers think under time pressure.
Step 4
Practice Layer
Tackle targeted VCAA-style questions with feedback, focusing on speed and precision.
Step 5
Mastery Layer
Attempt the top 1% difficulty questions (often worth only 1–2 marks each but decisive in a 45+ score) to bulletproof your exam performance.

Methods Tips & Traps
Finish the syllabus by early September: This leaves 8+ weeks for targeted exam prep.
Double-check your answers: Simple mistakes can mean you’re losing 3 to 5 marks per SAC because of simple mistakes you’re not catching.
Master CAS syntax: Wrong input = lost marks, even with the correct logic. Check out the biggest ones here.
Bound reference efficiency: Tab sections, use colour coding, and keep a last-minute lookup page.
CAS to double-check: For multiple-choice questions, make sure you use CAS to check after your initial work.
Mini Module Exam Enhancement
If you want to stay a cut above, these special two-hour methods tutoring sessions are designed to sharpen your performance in the final stretch.
By combining review with fresh, exam-style questions, you’ll leave each session knowing exactly how to handle similar problems under timed conditions.
Targeted Exam Review
Hour 1
We break down the most challenging parts of recent VCAA exams – the ones that trip up even strong students. Expect me to highlight subtle CAS syntax issues, common probability misreads, and the “trap” parts of multi-step calculus problems. You’ll get keyword lists, marking notes, and exact wording examiners look for.
Specialist Practice Sets
Hour 2
A 30-minute block where you attempt a set of my custom-written exam questions, more than you can finish in time, so the rest becomes homework. These are designed to mimic the pacing, structure, and difficulty of actual VCAA papers. The final 30 minutes are a detailed review where we refine solutions, explore alternate approaches, and develop time-saving CAS strategies.
